More About Pat Scharmen

Pat Scharmen is a native of the Florida Panhandle. He is a 1968 graduate of Choctawhatchee High School and received his B.S. in Engineering from Brigham Young University in 1980. Making his living as an engineer, he has never the less been involved in the arts from his youth, participating in the music programs in high school, college, and while in the military, performing with the 98th Army Band.
Pat (the engineer/musician that learned how to dance) began dancing in 2001 and has been dancing since that time. He began his “formal instruction” as a dance instructor in 2005. He has been trained by and has danced with top professionals both on the Florida panhandle and from out of state. He has been an annual participant in the “Dance Vision International Dance Association” (DVIDA) Teachers Dance Camps in Las Vegas, NV since 2006. There, he has received instruction from nationally recognized dancers and/or instructors such as Ron Montez, Jim and Janell Maurantz, Bob Powers, Julia Gorchachova, and Diane Jarmalov (owner and founder of the Ballroom Dance Teachers College in Oakland, CA).
Pat is a skilled dancer and dance instructor whose principle aim is in his own words “show my students how they too can be comfortable on the dance floor. He offers instruction in all of the American Ballroom Dances, the most popular of these being the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Swing, Rumba, Cha Cha, and the Mambo. In addition to these, he is experienced and offers instruction in International Rumba and popular night club dances such as Night Club 2 Step, the Hustle, and the Salsa.
Pat has received numerous certifications from the National Dance Council of America (NDCA). His personal goal is to continue his own training and certifications in all forms of dance in order to ensure that he “brings a quality product to all of his students”.
Ballroom Director
Pat Scharmen has been teaching American Ballroom Dance for more than 9 years. He has received training from both past and current national dance champions and regularly attends the annual Dance Vision Dance Teachers Training Camp in Las Vegas, NV. Pat and faculty began teaching at "A Dance Studio" In September of 2007 and has a main focus to train and coach dancers at all levels, beginner though advanced, in American Style Rhythm and Smooth as well as International Latin.
